Secondary Math I

Student will reason quantitatively and use units to solve problems. Student will interpret the structure of expressions. Student will create equations that describe numbers or relationships. Student will represent and solve equations and inequalities graphically. Student will understand the concept of a function and use function notation. Student will interpret functions that arise in applications in terms of a context. Student will analyze functions using different representations. Student will build a function that models a relationship between two quantities. Student will build new functions from existing functions. Student will construct and compare linear, quadratic, and exponential models and solve problems. Student will interpret expressions for functions in terms of the situation they model. Student will understand solving equations as a process of reasoning and explain the reasoning. Student will solve equations and inequalities in one variable. Student will solve systems of equations. Student will summarize, represent, and interpret data on a single count or measurement variable. Student will summarize, represent, and interpret data on two categorical and quantitative variables. Student will interpret linear models. Student will experiment with transformations in the plane. Student will understand congruence in terms of rigid motions. Student will make geometric constructions. Student will use coordinates to prove simple geometric theorems algebraically.
